Welcome back friends! Joy from Joy Lacquer (btw, love her name incorporated into the brand name!), sent me a few polishes from The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows collection. This collection contains 8 cremes, which marble and easily apply for regular wear .. double whammy! This is my first time trying any polish from this brand and am quite pleased with the 3 polishes I got sent to review!

Joy stumbled upon a few unique words from The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows several years ago. Sonder and Xeno were two definitions that originally stuck out to her. Upon creating her first creme collection, she knew the colours would be rich and wintery but pretty straightforward being cremes. Using these definitions, it allows for the polish names to have a bit more depth. The theme is definitely unique, but each of these definitions stood out to her, in a non-sorrowful way! Given these words are not commonly used, you might also relate with the sentiment. If your interested, the link to this website will be provided full of made up words for feelings and notions that we were all familiar with, but could never be described

At the end will be my final review of these polishes + important release info!

Let's get started shall we?

Described as a dark teal green that leans towards a deep blue pine. Plain swatch is shown in 2 very easy coats + no topcoat (super glossy on its own!)
n. the moment of realization that your quintessential future self isn't ever going to show up, which forces the role to fall upon the understudy, the gawky kid for whom nothing is easy, who spent years mouthing their lines int he wings before being shoved into the glare of your life, which is already well into its second act.

Nail Art: Bundle Monster stamping plate BM-SE1, Essie - Good as Gold to stamp, Born Pretty Store's clear jelly stamper and Essence Cosmetics satin matte topcoat.

Described as a soothing, yet punchy rose coral. Plain swatch is shown in 2 very easy coats + no topcoat (super glossy on its own!)
n. the smallest measurable unit of human connection, typically exchanged between passing strangers - a flirtatious glance, a sympathetic nod, a shared laugh about some odd coincidence-moments that are fleeting and random but still contain powerful emotional nutrients that can alleviate the symptoms of feeling alone.

Nail art: Lina Nail Art Supplies - Born to sail 01 (coupon code Nailexp15OFF saves 15% off next purchase), Konad white stamping polish, Born Pretty Store clear jelly stamper and Glisten and Glow HK girl fast drying topcoat.

Described as an understatedly beautiful periwinkle orchid. Plain swatches are shown in 2 very easy coats + no topcoat (super glossy on its now!)
n. the realization that each random passerby is living life as vivid and complex as your own -populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness - an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you'll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee int he background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway as a lighted window at dusk.

Nail art: Born Pretty Store stamping plate BP-01 + clear jelly stamper, Konad white stamping polish and Glisten and Glow HK girl fast drying topcoat.

These polishes also marble incredibly well together!

Like I mentioned in the beginning, this was my first time trying polish from this brand and am BLOWN away! Usually with cremes that marble, usually regular wear is quite tricky as the formula can be rather thick. This formulation on these polishes is a huge 10\10 for me because not only did they marble easily, but they also applied for regular wear without being a big goopy mess. Although the polishes are opaque in 1 coat, again, it isn't goopy! I don't know how she did it, but she did the damn thing lol! Usually when I do nail art on top of polish, I apply a quick dry topcoat over the base than proceed with nail art. These dried down SO quick I didn't even need a quick dry topcoat + they dry down incredibly glossy! MIND BLOWN! If your in a hurry and need to get something on your nails and out the door, this is definitely going to do the trick and still have some kick ass nails! Minus the marble (I used a white base, because duh marble lol) I didn't use any type of base/base coat underneath the polishes. I tend to do that a lot to test and see if polishes stain and they passed the test! Again, another great reason to use these if your in a hurry as you can skip out on base and topcoat. Being a polish addict + a nail technician, I would recumbent base coat/top coat for la longer wear. Not sure the wear time on these as I swatched back to back, but I'm assuming great because everyone else has exceeded my picky standards! It's been great working with Joy and being able to swatch these polishes for her! I can't wait for the rest to come out because I might just snag the rest!

This collection will be releasing Friday November 18th and will be $9 each for a full sized bottle. By purchasing all 8 colours, you'll be able to save $1 each using code 'dictionarycremes' upon checkout. That savings of $1 per bottle basically gets you 1 bottle for free!
