Sally Hansen

Pastel Punk Canada Exclusive Swatches

** PRESS SAMPLES **

Sally Hansen presents the Pastel Punk collection, exclusive to Canada only. This collection gives me awesome girly grunge retro vibes.

My parcel came with a complimentary fanny pack and cassette style usb plug in - super cute! Both items are designed to represent the flowing theme and the splatter design gave me some serious nail art inspiration!

Let's get onto the swatches!

-----

Sally Hansen - Just Maui'd

Just Maui'd has a beautiful periwinkle base with green, purple and silver glistening shimmer.

My swatch of Just Maui'd is shown in 2 coats, paired with the Step 2 Miracle Gel Top Coat. I'm a sucker for periwinkle shades and the shimmer in this steps things up a notch!

Sally Hansen - Ocean Daze

Ocean Daze is a perfect for spring pastel blue creme.

My swatch of Ocean Daze is shown in 2 coats, paired with the Sally Hansen Step 2 Miracle Gel Top Coat for a high glossy shine.

Sally Hasen - I Lava You

I Lava You is a medium pink with what seems to be pink and gold glitters, and a stunning violet flash throughout when caught in the right lighting.

My swatch of I Lava You is shown in 3 coats, paired with the Sally Hansen Step 2 Miracle Gel top coat for a high glossy gel like shine. I noticed even after the 3rd coat, you could still see my nail line peeping through slightly. This one can also be worn in 1 coat overtop a similar coloured base for a nice pop of shimmery fun!

Sally Hansen - Shell-ebration

Shell-ebration is just a bit lighter in comparison to the above I Lava You.

My swatch of Shell-ebration is shown in 2 coats, paired with the Miracle Gel top coat. I find this to be a very wearable everyday sort of pink, perfect for office type settings I would say.

Sally Hansen - Golden Glow

Golden Glow is a shimmery gold.

My swatch of Golden Glow is shown in 3 coats, paired with the Miracle Gel top coat. I can't see myself wearing this one on it's own, but more so as an accent nail.

Sally Hansen - After Altar

After Altar is a pastel pink creme, more so on the off-white pink side.

My swatch of After Altar is shown in 2 coats, paired with the Miracle Gel top coat for a high glossy long-lasting shine. This one is hands down my favourite shade from the collection!

Nail Art

The denim pastel splattered fanny pack gave me instant nail art inspiration and tried to replicate it as best as I could. I think it turned out pretty sweet!

Nail art details: Ocean Daze as the base and stamped overtop using Harlequin from Bundle Monster, paired with the Feeling Shapely 01 stamping plate from Lina Nail Art Supplies. The splatter part of the nail art was fairly simple, as I loaded the bottom end of a straw with various colours from this collection and blew out the polish onto my nails from the opposite end of the straw. It's been a while since I've done splatter nails and love how they turned out! For a more realistic approach, I sealed everything in with Polish Matte'rs matte top coat by Girly Bits.

Final thoughts:
I'm quite a fan of the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel line in general and can see myself pulling for a few of these colours. My favourites would have to be Just Maui'd, Ocean Daze and After Altar. I do however wish they would have paired the polishes with names that correlated better flowing with the collection's theme. One of my favourite things about this line is the rounded wide brush, as it allows for an almost one stroke application and hugs the cuticle line perfectly!

  1. I agree with you on the polish names, and your nailart is very unique. It's perfect for the theme and shades. :) I like that SH is maybe making a small attempt to capture some of the creativity of Indie brands in this collection, too.

    1. The names definitely surprised me, especially considering the theme. Thank you for your compliments on my nail art! I was inspired from the fanny pack and was excited to get down and messy with some splatter nail art. I too felt that indie brand vibe with some of the finishes in this collection!
